- 7/16” wrench or you can use a small size adjustable wrench to do this
- 10mm wrench and that will remove the factory installed arial
- 16 mm wrench to install an antenna adaptor if you do not get an arial that will fit your vehicle without any adapter
Take the 10 mm wrench, or an adjustable wrench small enough to accommodate the antenna mast girth, and use the tool to remove the antenna mast that is currently in place.
If your new arial has an adapter you want to tighten the adapter to the factory base that is on your vehicle. (If you want to install a quick release that makes removing or changing the antenna easier in the future you should put the adapter on the bottom of the quick release and then connect the quick release and adapter ensemble to the factory base.)
Now you are ready to install the new antenna mast. Tighten this section by hand, and then use a wrench to get it properly snugged into position.

How to Take off Jeep Wrangler Antenna
Removing the factory installed antenna allows you to install a newly upgraded arial. Some people remove the entire antenna and the factory installed base because they no longer listen to the radio.
The antenna mast unscrews from the base. You might need a 10 mm wrench, or a small adjustable wrench to start the unscrewing process.
If you also want to remove the factory base you need to get a flat-head screwdriver and use it to pry up the plastic cap that covers the screws of the base. Under that cap there are three Phillips head screws that need to be removed.
You now need to get inside the vehicle and using wire clippers you need to snip the antenna wires from the back of the radio. You can then can now pull the factory base off and the wires and connector should come out with a gentle tug.
